I’ll have to admit that when my wife was expecting and we were signing up for a baby gift registry, I didn’t even know what a valance was.  Of course, there were many things I didn’t know, but I remember asking, “what is a window valance and why do we need one?”

Like a crib skirt, the primary purpose of a valance is to hide unsightly hardware.  But valances can also bring together a theme and put the finishing touches on a nursery.  Valances can be used with or without curtains, but they are typically paired with curtains for a more formal appearance.

Valances are also considered window treatments and come several styles.  At babybedding.com, we offer two of the most time-honored and versatile styles: balloon valances and tab top valances.

The balloon valance (also known as rod pocket valance) typically envelopes the curtain rod and gathers, or ballons, along the width of the window.

One of the disadvantages of having a large product offering is, well, having a lot of products to sort through to find the baby bedding that best suits your taste as well as your budget.  Since we have nearly 100 different collections for each of our different categories (crib bedding sets, portable crib bedding sets, cradle bedding sets and toddler bedding sets), we wanted to make it easier to to organize, sort and filter collections and products.

Kudos to our IT staff for quickly developing our new sorting functionality.  Now, anyone arriving at a page with a large number of collections (like the crib bedding page, for instance)  will be able to sort by price or popularity.

For toddlers, transitioning from a crib to a bed is a milestone in becoming a “big boy” or “big girl”. It is also a big deal for parents, who suddenly find themselves getting used to a toddler who can hop in and out of bed instantaneously.

Each child will react to this change in different ways:  Some will miss their nap time in the crib, where they felt secure and surrounded; Others will love their new found freedom, and will be eager to make the adjustment.

This organization provides emergency assistance to family members of deployed and wounded soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines.

After several months of busy days and late nights of furious coding by our stellar development staff, we launched the new babybedding.com site in early June.
