Product Feature: Mini Crib Bedding

Decorating your baby’s nursery can be overwhelming.

I mean, there’s all that stuff that you need to buy and when you finally get home after buying it, you’re suddenly struck by the fact that you forgot to consider where you’re going to put it!

Having spent most of my life in the suburbs, I’ve apparently gotten used to a pretty decent amount of space.  It wasn’t until after recently visiting a friend who lives in a two-bedroom apartment in Manhattan (with 3 kids!), that I realized how spoiled I’ve become.  I was blown away by how little space she had and how smart she has to be about maximizing it.

Enter the Mini Crib.

These adorable pieces of furniture look like full-sized cribs, only shrunken.  They can be just as durable as regular cribs and made out of the same quality materials, but they use almost half the space.

There are a couple of good reasons why a new parent might choose a mini crib.  For instance, if there’s a full-sized crib in the nursery but the baby needs to sleep in a different room for a while (i.e. with mom & dad), a mini crib certainly fits the bill.  Or, if mom and dad are incredibly hip and urban, but pitifully space-challenged, a mini crib might be all they have room for.

Other benefits of a mini crib:

  • They’re small enough to be rolled through a standard-sized doorway, making it easy to move them from one room to another.
  • They can also be folded flat and stored in a closet when not in use.
  • Some models can even be converted to a toddler or twin bed so they grow with your baby.

And while they are smaller than regular cribs, I’ve had girlfriends tell me that they kept their babies in a mini crib until they were ready to move to a toddler or twin bed.  Mini cribs are also perfect additions to a second (or vacation) home or even as a permanent fixture at grandma’s house!

And while they’re not as portable as say, a Pac ‘n Play, they’re certainly better looking (and I did mention that my friends and I are incredibly hip, didn’t I?).

To preserve that hipness, Carousel Designs offers mini-crib bedding in all the same gorgeous collections as our standard crib bedding.  Or, you can design your own…just give us a call when you’ve finalized your design and we’ll make it specifically for mini-crib dimensions.

I’d love to hear your thoughts…what have been your experiences with mini cribs?
